Professional
Scott DeSimone was admitted to the bar in New York State (1992), and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York and the Southern District of New York. He received his law school education at Syracuse University College of Law and his undergraduate education at New York Institute of Technology where he graduated with honors. He was an Assistant Town Attorney for the Town of Brookhaven from 1993 to 1995. During this time he represented the town in all matters related to tax certiorari and real property tax administration as well as all condemnation proceedings. He left the town to become an Associate at the law firm of Siegel Fenchel & Peddy P.C. located in Garden City, New York.
While there, he represented commercial property owners in assessment review proceedings throughout New York State but predominately in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. He also headed the residential Small Claims Assessment Review ( SCAR ) Department and represented various property owners in numerous condemnation proceedings commenced by the State of New York, City of New York, County of Nassau, Town of North Hempstead and the County of Suffolk. He left Siegel Fenchel & Peddy P.C. in 1998 to enter private practice. From it’s inception, the firm has concentrated in the areas of tax certiorari and issues related to real property tax administration. He has represented commercial and residential property owners directly and as Of Counsel to various law firms.
In addition, he currently acts as Special Counsel for tax certiorari to numerous municipalities including the Towns of Babylon, Riverhead, Southold and the Village of East Hills. He has acted in the past as Special Counsel to the Town of Huntington, County of Nassau and the Village of Laurel Hollow. He is also Special Counsel to the Town of Riverhead Zoning Board of Appeals. He is a member of the New York State and Suffolk County Bar Associations, and the Committee on Tax Certiorari and Condemnation of the Suffolk County Bar Association (1995–Present), where he has served as a past Chairman (2004-06) as well as the Committees on Real Property and Education.
Personal
Scott DeSimone was born in the Bronx (1960) and grew up in Plainview (Nassau County). He currently resides in Peconic (Suffolk County) with his wife and two children, ages 6 & 9. He is currently a member of the Southold Union Free School District Board of Education. He co-founded the North Fork Lacrosse Club which is a youth lacrosse organization where he continues to coach.
